Preveza, the capital of the prefecture, has ordinal air connection with Athens via Aktio and there are many charter flights during vacation months except the regular flights. There is a frequent bus connection with Athens, Thessaloniki and other big cities, many cities of Epirus, Thessalia and Patra as well. The inshore national road Preveza - Igoumenitsa connects the two cities (95 km). Preveza is also connected (via Igoumenitsa) with Italy and all Europe. The national route Preveza - Ioannina connects Preveza with the city of Ioannina. From Preveza you can also visit many neighbor prefectures or make a cruise in Seven-Islands.
Preveza
If you visit Preveza, the capital of the homonym perfecture, you’ll have the chance to see Roman Nikopolis, many visantine’s churches, the Venetian and Ottoman castles, the "Seiatan-Pazar", the old mansion-houses of the 19th century, the beautiful port of the city, as well as the synchronous infrastructure project, the under-sea junction of Aktio - Preveza and the airport of Aktio.
Also, important monuments of the town are the Saint Andrea’s fortress (18th cent.) in the centre of the town beside the port, the Saint George’s castle (Pantokratoras), which is situated in the entrance of Amvrakikos gulf, and the parapet of Vrysoula, which was built on 1807. You can also visit many churches in the town, as Saint Nicolas, Saint Athanasios, Saint Spiridonas at Vrysoula and the Metropolitan church of Saint Charalampos.
